Sanibel & Captiva Islands - paradise found

Welcome to my blog.

I started this blog to talk about life and real estate on the islands of Sanibel & Captiva, and Southwest Florida. Life is very good here in sunny, Southwest Florida. The weather is excellent, especially during the winter months. Up north there is a freezing temperature point, which is 32 degrees, and here in Southwest Florida we have a pleasing temperature point, which is 50. So when the air temperature gets below 50 degrees, we say it's below the pleasing mark. I coined this idea and I'm proud of it.

There are plenty of things to do here in paradise such as the arts, golf, boating, snorkeling, kyaking, sun bathing, fishing, hiking nature preserve trails, shopping, island jumping, etc. I love to rent a boat at Jensen's Twin Palms Marina on Captiva Island, and go island jumping. On the Island of Cabbage Key, there is a restaurant where Jimmy Buffet was inspired to write his song, Cheeseburger in Paradise. And on Cayo Costa one can camp out on the beach - with a permit.

Sanibel Island is a Sanctuary Island located 3 miles off the mainland near Fort Myers, FL. There are no traffic lights on the island, and the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation owns 1100 acres of land. I'm a Realtor on Sanibel & Captiva Islands, and on the mainland in Fort Myers, FL. I sell real estate for ResortQuest, formerly Priscilla Murphy Realty. My web site is www.ronmsmiley.com

The market is hot right now. A recent newspaper publication pointed out that in 2004 the property values rose 23% in Lee County and that in December alone, the values rose 30%. Let me know what you're interested in. I'd be glad to discuss anything, from the arts to real estate here in Southwest Florida. I hope you enjoy my blog.

The temperature was 65 degrees this morning as I crossed the 3 mile causeway from the mainland to Sanibel Island. What a beautiful drive it is to see the tranquil waters of the bay.

Visit my web site and you can check out the weather.

Friends from the Philadelphia area came to visit. This is their very first winter vacation. They couldn't believe how green it is here in February. They had me take pictures of them in front of my rose bushes and asked me to caption it - "we stopped to smell the roses in February."

Today I took a couple of CMA classes at our Board of Realtors and then held an open house at Island Beach Club, a gulf front condo complex. I had several people stop in and they all thought the unit was the best they've seen. It ought to be as the owners upgraded their unit to the tune of $60,000+

After the open house I went back to the office and did my marketing layout for my next open house.
